I just bought a Maverick. When heating it goes up to 500. Is that normal? My sister has a Wrangler and my nephew has an Epic and theirs goes to about 450 when heating up. What is normal?

Katie,
Just like people, grills are individuals & will vary some depending on the type of fuel, regulator settings, how clean or how old your grill is, etc.
For the current crop of Hollands, I would consider 450-500 to be a normal range in warm weather. Typically, brand new grills get the hottest until cooked on for a season or so, then they moderate down about 25-50 degrees.
