Topic Title: Infrared SearMate vs Blow Torch

Has anyone used a Blow Torch to sear there meat before cooking on the holland? Seems like it would be a much cheaper method vs Infrared SearMate.
Any comments are greatly appreciated.

What I learned is that steaks and other similar meats are 10 times better if you don't sear them, with anything.

The Holland just cooks them so tender and juicy that a burnt outer crust just isn't very appealing any more.
