Use tongs to turn your food items, especially hamburgers, steaks, pork chops, etc.

Turn it with tongs

Using a pair of stainless steel tongs makes it much easier to turn food items on the Holland Grill. Using a spatula can cause grease to splash over the drip pan into the flame and a fork will let all the juice run out.

Additional Information
The Holland Grill is guaranteed not to flare up. But, when you are grilling fatty food items such as sausage, hamburgers or steaks, you must take care not to splash grease over the side of the drip pan into the flame.

Using tongs to flip these food items will keep that from happening. Always place these items an inch or so away from the outer edges so all the drippings will fall onto the sizzle tray and not into the flame. Using a spatula to "scoop and turn" burgers, for example, can cause the grease to splatter over the edge. Using a fork to "stab" the meat and turn it will let all the juices run out. The stainless steel tongs are also good for handling larger food items such as whole chickens and turkeys when putting on or removing from the grill.
