I have a new sear mate (that I haven't installed yet) and was just wondering how this will affect the gas usage. If I have the grill and the sear mate on at the same time will I, overtime, see a need to replace the gas tank more often? Just wondering.
Thanks.

Depending on the model of the grill, the Searmate orifice is approximately the same size as the grill gas valve orifice. You will have about the same amount of gas going through both orifices, so about 2x the gas usage if you leave the Searmate on for the same as the grill. In actual use, my Searmate is only on for a fraction of the time the grill is on. I sear steaks about 1-2 minutes per side, then move to the grill to finish.
