It takes over 30 minutes to cook a steak that is an inch thick. Any suggestions?

Start earlier if you are in a hurry. It will be time well spent as the meal will be the reward.

The secret for great Holland style steaks is to get the grill to full heat & don't lose that heat by opening the lid all the way when putting the steaks on the grill.
Preheat the grill 5/10 extra minutes. Have the steaks out of the fridge & preseasoned. When ready, grab 1 steak with tongs, lift the lid just a few inches & slide the steak in, then drop the lid. Repeat with remaining steaks without ever opening the lid all the way. You need to develope your own cooking times, but I partially open the lid 1/2 way through the cooking time & flip the steaks.
The extra heat at the beginning is what makes the difference.

You don't even have to flip steaks or pork chops, the holland grill cook evenly all over, I just put them on and depending on how I want them cooked you just get a knack for how long to cook them!!

Take your steaks/chops out of the fridge about 30-45 minutes prior to putting them on the grill. Set them on a platter on the kitchen counter. Its totally safe and gives you about a 20 degree advantage. The meat will stay more tender and juicy as well, and not dry out.
