Has anyone used the Holland companion electric? We are moving into an apartment that does not allow gas grills.

I don't think I can do it without my BBQ..I cook year round!

@ Rick

There is a short thread currently on page 4 of this blog that should give an insight on the electric Companion.

Rick,
I have had my electric Companion for 6 months now & love it.
Very consistent cooking & the flavors are great, especially when the grill get seasoned after cooking a few times.
One caution, if you need to use an extension cord, make sure it is a heavy duty cord. A typical indoor cord will not let the grill get to full heat & the skinny cord gets too hot.

Has anyone installed a Temperature Gauge on their Holland Companion Electric Grill? I am not sure where it should be located for the best results. Maybe I have not learned how to use it but my grill seems to be very slow.

Gene,
You can check temps by puting an oven thermometer on the cooking grid. Should be 400+ in 15/20 minutes. If you decide to install a Holland lid thermometer, it should be near the top of the lid in the center, left to right.

Is there a cover available for the electric Companion? If so, where can I purchase.
