I've read varous grills that proudly state 304 stainless steel and 16 gauge, or whatever their grill is made from. And, claim to stay away of others with different types of stainless.

For new Apex grills, what type of stainless steel is used. And, what is the gauge ?

I want to get one before the weekend, and am really looking at the Apex.

I'll add a second question on the Apex.

The warranty info talks about staying away from pools. I don't have a pool, but do have a 'hot tub' (I currently use bromine). The grill will be 15' away from the hot tub. Should I worry about that ... is that far enough, or will it be a problem ?

Ted,
I am reasonably sure that the stainless material is 16 gage 303 or 304 stainless. There is talk about going to a 200 series stainless because it is fast becoming the food equipment standard & is recommended by the FDA. It is harder & stronger than the 300 series.
The pool chemical thing is about chemical corrosion from pool cleaning chemicals, especially strong chlorine products. Any metal including stainless will corrode when exposed to these materials. Do not store your grill anywhere close to chlorine pool supplies.
