My holland heats up fine after initial start up. Once I open the grill to place food on the cooking grid, it never returns to cooking temperature. It only gets to 300 to 325 degrees. any Ideas to what may be going on??

John,

How about some specific info like which grill, how old, what kind of fuel & your maximum preheat
temperature in 30 minutes??? Your grill may not be getting to full temperature to start with.

What you really need to do is get this info together & call Holland.

I have a tradition LS. I tried again this morning and initial temp was about 400 degrees. All is good until i put food on. then it never gets above 325. I use propane and have tried releasing the pressure in the regulator.

John,
Your Tradition LS should preheat to about 450 in 30 minutes. It should actually cook at about 375-400 degrees depending on how much food you have on it.
You are only about 50 degrees short of optimum.

The Tradition LS has been discontinued about 4 years. Have you done all the maintenance on it like regular cleaning of the drip pan, cleaning out the burner, air shutter adjustment, vacuuming out the rust or food particles under the drip pan, or have you just cooked on it for 4 years?

If any of the "Trouble-shooting" tips on this web-site don't help, give Holland a call. They were very helpful to me.

Thanks for the reply. Today i did go through the steps of cleaning the burner and under the heat shield and the orifice. It did preheat alot better. I'll see this evening if it cooks hotter.
As far as cleaning goes, about once a month, I'll scrap the drip tray and give a thorough cleaning to the easy to get to parts. I love my Holland and want it to last a long time.

also, I did do the air shutter adjustment recommended.
Thanks
