Well, today I spent about an hour and a half doing maintenance on my APEX. I basically stripped the entire grill down. Used the small putty knife of the cleaning kit to scrape all the crud from the entire inside of the grill. I tore apart the burner and scrubbed it with a wire brush, and checked the orifice for obstructions. Removed the drip pan pipe cleaned the inside, brushed off any rust and repainted with High Temp Spray paint. Before re-assembling anything, I put mineral oil on the threads of the drain pipe and all bolts/screws before assembling. I also set the gap on my igniter and it now lights on the first shot everytime!
I am a firm believer that if you take care of your equipment, it will take care of you. My Holland is ready for another year of solid performance.

I do that twice a year mine is 21 years plus (previous owner did the same) ad mine has only the gas line replaced all other parts are original an just did the gas line this past spring... I agree proper care gives you a life of great grilling

Ditto to giving your Holland TLC. So many people don't take care of it, it's a shame. Mine is 18 years old now and showroom new.
