Topic Title: 10 lb tank
Created on April 27, 2008 at 01:16 AM

I just got a Companion and now I have to learn how to cook all over again. One problem I am having in low heat when I use a 10 lb tank. I have also hooked up a 20 lb tank and that doesn't work very well either. Sometimes I can not get the temp over about 250*.

At times the regulator frosts up also.

A one lb bottle works great, but they get expensive, thus the tank.

Any suggestions out there?

Been there, done that. If it heats good with the one lb tank, but not with the hose, you have a bad hose. If it is not a Holland hose, you can order one on their web-site under grill accessories. Apparently some non-Holland hoses just don't work.

Harbor Freight along with other tool stores carry an adaptor that lets you refill your one lb. canisters from your 10 or 20 lb propane tanks. (LP and camping supplies) It works great and saves a lot of money. Your one pounders should have a relief valve (little dimple thing) so you don't have to worry about over-filling. All you do is put your 1 pounder in the freezer for a few minutes before filling. I've been doing this for years and it works great. good luck
